This policy explains what information the Buffardi Hockey League (“BHL,” “we,” “us”) collects through its web app and text-message program, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run a pickup-hockey league. That includes:
- Account & profile details — your name, email address, and mobile phone number.
- League info — your skating position(s), goalie status, roster and signup activity, attendance, scores, and stats.
- Optional content — a profile/player photo if you choose to upload one.
- Limited health notes — if you choose to provide trainer/medical notes, they are stored in encrypted form and used only for on-ice safety.
We do not collect financial account numbers or payment-card data through this app.
2. How we use it
- Manage signups, build game rosters, and run scheduling for games at Ice Realm Westminster.
- Track attendance, scores, and stats.
- Send league communications, including the optional text-message program described below.
- Maintain the security and integrity of the app.
3. Text messaging (SMS)
If you opt in, we use your mobile number to send league-related texts — for example, open-spot offers (“reply YES to claim a spot”) and game or signup-window reminders.
We do not sell your information, and we never share mobile opt-in data. No mobile information — including your phone number and SMS consent — will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party.
The only parties that ever touch your number for texting are the service providers that help us deliver messages on our behalf (such as our SMS gateway provider), and only to the extent needed to send the message you asked to receive.

4. How we share information
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing. We share information only:
- With service providers (e.g., our hosting and SMS providers) that process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations;
- Within the league, where roster and game info is naturally visible to members (e.g., who’s on a game roster);
- If required by law or to protect safety.
5. Storage & security
League data is stored on our own hosting. Uploaded photos are saved as files on the server; trainer/medical notes are stored encrypted. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
6. Your choices
- Texts: reply STOP to any message to opt out of SMS at any time.
- Profile: you can update your details or remove your photo in the app.
- Account: contact us to access or delete your league account.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as you’re an active member and as needed to run the league, then delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period unless we’re required to keep it.
8. Children
The app is intended for league participants and is not directed to children under 13. If a participant is a minor, a parent or guardian should provide and manage their information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be communicated through the app.
